ASCD: The Power of Connectedness

Session Description:
Students who feel connected to their schools tend to thrive —academically, socially, ethically, emotionally. This session will review evidence confirming the centrality of “connectedness” to improving school effectiveness and will explore proven methods for strengthening connectedness. Video clips will show these methods in diverse school settings. The Louisville, KY superintendent will describe his district-wide reform effort to strengthen connectedness in 90 elementary schools. Participants will learn about available assessments, resources, and funds for strengthening connectedness.
