Session Description:
One challenge teachers face in educating the “whole child” is integrating rigorous academic instruction with systematic attention to social, emotional, and ethical growth. This session explores how to foster all dimensions of students’ development and make instruction truly engaging in the process. By discussing classroom video, participants will explore how literacy skills (i.e., reading comprehension strategies, writing skills) can be inextricably linked to students’ intra- and interpersonal competencies and their commitments to core ethical values.
