Alphabetic principle and spelling patterns

Although students can typically read a number of words and may also remember some phonics from previous reading instruction, no particular knowledge is assumed. By the end of this level, students will be able to read single-syllable words with complex vowels and more than 190 high-frequency irregular words. During SIPPS® Plus, students use a paperback collection of stories that both match instruction and respect student interests.
