Assessment Tools

The SIPPS program provides an initial assessment to help teachers determine the appropriate starting place for each student. Several forms of ongoing assessment enable teachers to track student progress and determine when to modify instruction.

  • Regular mastery tests (Beginning, Extension, and Plus levels)
  • Informal assessments (Challenge level)
  • Evaluation of choral responses (all levels)
  • Informal observation during daily classroom reading (all levels)

Optional assessment kits eliminate the need for teachers to copy the assessment pages from the Teacher’s Manual. (An Assessment Record Book is included with Challenge level.)
