What's the Story?

The New York Life Foundation is partnering with Developmental Studies Center (DSC), a nonprofit organization located in Oakland, California to offer the New York Life After-School Initiative. DSC has been working with after-school programs since 1995, and has developed two great academic enrichment programs for kids. Both programs are highly regarded and used widely across the country. AfterSchool KidzLit and AfterSchool KidzMath were developed specifically for use in out-of-school time. Both programs take the important skills taught during the school day and extend that learning into out-of-school time in fun and engaging ways.

What's in It for Your Local After-School Sites?

Participating after-school sites will receive:

• A 25% discount on the purchase of AfterSchool KidzLit and AfterSchool KidzMath materials for all sites that serve low-income* children
• A 10% discount for all other sites
• Free training for after-school site staff

* Low-income sites are those in which at least 50% of the children they serve are receiving free or reduced-price lunches at their schools.

What Would You Need To Do?

• Find out what after-school organizations children are attending in your area and identify the key person to contact
• Reach out to after-school sites in your community to let them know about the New York Life Initiative
• Help the sites get the information they need to get started
