Making Meaning - From one 5th Grader

I have seen a trend with recent blogs by my colleagues of sharing the thoughts of the students.  Ann Marie writes abot the what 6th graders think in her recent blog http://devstu.org/blogs/partnerships-do-the-promises-outweigh-the-perils-what-do-sixth-graders-think and Katy writes about the reflections of her students engaged in SIPPS instruction in her recent blog http://devstu.org/blogs/from-the-mouths-of-babes-students-reflect-on-phonics-progress.

So, when I got this email from a colleagues, Tricia, about what one of her 5th graders recently said about her Making Meaning experience, I had to share...

One of my students said:

"I think Making Meaning is helping our class work together. We all have different personalaties, but fortunately we get along very well. I think it is because of Making Meaning. If we didn't have Making Meaning, I don't think we would be able to do this. At my old school, we didn't have Making Meaning to guide us on working together and talking with each other and we couldn't do this."

It was like a commercial for Making Meaning!

Thanks for sharing!
