Authors' Reception

This third grade class was the first room to host an Authors' Reception in late November. Feedback from parents was amazing and as a result many more rooms are hosting receptions to showcase student work. Forrest Elementary held an Authors' Reception this fall to celebrate student writers and showcase their work. This takes the idea of the Author's Chair a step further to show finished works from the students.

Sharon, Thanks for sharing.  The pictures really seem to capture their excitement about their pieces.  I love the idea that you got their families involved.  I know that with my kids, once they have an opportunity to share that first published piece, it really motivates them with future pieces.  I really appreciate the questions and guidance that is provided in the publishing lessons.  I think that the questions posed really help the audience to think about the pieces that they are listening to which results in far better responses.  You can really see how proud they are of each other, especially of their partner's work, as they know the background of where that initial idea started.  This just continues to enhance the community that you are building in your classroom.  DSC Consultant Lindee Witt
