Caring School Community® in Action

I just returned from Louisville where the Jefferson County Public Schools have been implementing DSC's Caring School Community® program as a part of their Care For Kids Initiative.

Every time I leave Louisville I feel energized. On this trip, I worked with all of the district's elementary school principals. This was one visit in a series of visits where we are working to strengthen the principal's community. The district recognizes that principals, just like teachers and students, need a safe place to grow ideas, discuss policy decisions, and learn from each other if they are to be successful as a district.

The other highlight from this visit was that I got a chance to see the district's hard work featured in Edutopia magazine. Jefferson County's Care For Kids program is featured on the cover of this month's magazine. It is well deserved recognition for what I think is a cutting-edge Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) initiative.
