Being a Writer Wins the Golden Lamp Award

Developmental Studies Center is honored to announce that Being a Writer has won the 2011 Golden Lamp Award in Curriculum from the Association of Educational Publishers.

Recognizing the year’s most outstanding teaching and learning products, the Association of Education Publishers (AEP) awarded Developmental Studies Center’s Being a Writer program with its highest honor in curriculum at the June 9 annual gala event for the AEP 2011 Awards in Washington, DC.

AEP’s Golden Lamp Awards—one of educational publishing’s most prestigious traditions— recognize the best educational resources within the categories of Curriculum, Periodicals, Professional Development, and Technology Innovations.

The Golden Lamp Award in Curriculum recognizes any product used for student instruction in a particular subject, regardless of the medium or format. Entries were judged on the content, pedagogy, and age-appropriateness of the material.

The Being a Writer program is a yearlong writing curriculum for grades K–6 that combines two decades of research in the areas of writing, motivation, and learning theory with social and ethical development.
